The Journal is recognized as a scientific publication in the field, accredited with the „B+” category by Decision No. 8 of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education and Research on the 26 June 2020.
The Journal “Economy and Sociology” has been listed in the Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research Systems (ANVUR). The Journal has been recognised by ANVUR as a scientific journal in the field of Economics, business and statistics (Area 13) and Political and Social Sciences (Area 14). History
The Journal was founded in 1953 with the initial title of ,,Buletinul Academiei de Științe a RSS Moldova. Seria „Economie si Sociologie” ”Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of RSS Moldova. Series „Economics and Sociology”.
In 2006, the Journal was taken over by the National Institute for Economic Research.
From 2011 to 2014, the Journal (Economie si Sociologie = Economy and Sociology: theoretical and scientific journal, ISSN 1857-4130 and e-ISSN 2587-3172) was published in four issues per year in both Romanian and English, and since 2015 only in English.
Since 2019 the Journal has been published under the title of "Economy and Sociology" theoretical and scientific journal, ISSN-2587-4187 (print), e-ISSN 2587-4195, in two issues per year.
